 I tried and failed with MPICH: there's some incompatibility with our
 OpenMPI-oriented build set which I frankly didn't understand.  We found a
 workaround which keeps faith with the remainder of our setup:

 {{{
 port select --set mpi openmpi-gcc5-fortran
 }}}

 .... (immediately after {{{port install openmpi-gcc5 +fortran}}} in the
 build sequence) causes the correct {{{mpi.h}}} to be found by the GDL
 build, which then succeeds.
