 I'm clueless. I would suspect that something is wrong with wxWidgets-3.0
 indeed. Here's what I get:

 Please note the `expr: syntax error` in your output. I have no better
 suggestion than to try to force removal of wxWidgets-3.0 and then install
 it again. Perhaps include the build log of wxWidgets if gnuplot
 configuration will still "fail" after that.
