 Sorry, that was misleading. The problem exists in 2.3.5, but the commit
 linked earlier was never merged to the release-2.3 branch. I tried to
 bisect it but the problem was definitely there back in 2.3.0, but earlier
 releases do not work on macOS 10.12 Sierra.
