 On PPC Tiger, Mac OS X 10.4.11, I cannot reproduce the effect with its own
 XQuartz 2.7.7 (xorg-server 1.17.4), on PPC Leopard, Mac OS X 10.5.8, I can
 with the same X.Org server.
