Comment:

 The first error in the log is:

 error: /usr/local/lib/assert.h: Permission denied
 }}}

 It is not supported to have files installed in /usr/local while using
 MacPorts because it interferes with MacPorts. See wiki:FAQ#usrlocal.
 Remove what you have installed in /usr/local, `sudo port clean mysql56`,
 then try again.
