Comment (by joy.757@…):

 The commands i ran were:
 {{{
 sudo port install gcc5 +universal
 }}}
 and later
 {{{
 sudo port install libgcc +universal
 }}}
 Also, after running
 {{{
 sudo port clean libgcc
 }}}
 I freed up 4+ GB of space. Not sure if that's normal or has anything to do
 with the problem.
