 I think it would be great to add a warning message if port is launched as
 a non root user. I use a lot the root user without sudo (even though the
 practice is questionable). If I forget to go root or add sudo port
 selfupdate will fail with macports::selfupdate [array get global_options]
 base_updated. Adding a warning such as "Cannot run port as a normal user!
 please use sudo or login as the root user!" would be helpful as I have
 already seen people posting this issue on stackoverflow.
