 The boolean patch we are using in the jpeg port has been deemed improper
 by the developers of jpeg. According to them, the problems it fixes do not
 represent a problem in jpeg, but rather a problem in the other ports that
 use jpeg; it is those other ports that should be fixed. See e.g.
 comment:ticket:42710:6 and comment:ticket:42735:8.
