 I also agree that iperf3 should be its own discrete port, since it is not
 backwards compatible with iperf2.

 I'm not well versed in the "behind the scenes" lifecycle of creating a
 port.  What is the status of the work on this?  Doing a "port search
 iperf" I still only find the old "iperf" port for version 2.0.5:

 $ port search iperf
 iperf @2.0.5 (net)
     A tool to measure maximum TCP and UDP bandwidth
 }}}

 What remains to be done to make this available to conventional users?
