 Thanks. Indeed I'm on an older version of Xcode, specifically:

 $ xcodebuild -version
 Xcode 6.1
 Build version 6A1052c
 }}}
 Unfortunately I'm unable to update Xcode via the App Store as it complains
 my OSX version is too low (10.11 is required). I'll give up my resistance
 now and upgrade to El Capitan and see where that leads me :)
