 VLC build fails at the configuration stage, under 10.10 and 10.11, with:

 :info:configure configure: error: libavutil versions 55 and later are not
 supported.
 }}}

 This coincides with ffmpeg being updated from @2.8.6_2+gpl2+x11 to
 @3.0.2_0+gpl2+x11 .  I find libavutil is suppied by ffmpeg, which is in
 turn brought in as a dependency of webkit2-gtk in our build-server
 scripts.  Naiive attempts to first force-uninstall ffmpeg first result in
 the same version of ffmpeg (inc libavutil version 57) being preinstalled
 as a dependency.

 Could you let me know what else to try, please?
