 Could you try with compiler that is not /usr/bin/clang?   I had issues on
 another machine (El Capitan?)  with /usr/bin/clang and was able to get
 guile to build with /opt/local/bin/gcc-mp-6.
 $ CC=/opt/local/bin/gcc-mp-5 ./configure ...
