 My suggestion would be to commit that change and try to figure out a
 solution for older Xcode versions afterwards, if possible at all.

 The changes seem totally reasonable to me.

 Minor "typo":

 so blacklist it on 10.6+
 }}}
 this is probably on 10.7+ now :)
