 Well I'm not thrilled about adding x11 and quartz variants to glib2. We
 really want ports to simultaneously support both and thus make a variant
 unnecessary. But if it's unavoidable, and especially if this is taken from
 work already committed to upstream's repo, then we can do it for now until
 a better solution emerges.
