 There are darwin 9-16 subversion versions up at
 http://packages.macports.org/subversion/ - so there is something unique to
 your setup that is causing the issue (which may or may not be something we
 can fix in the port).

 port select isn't needed to build subversion, so we don' t h ave to worry
 about that part.

 First I would check to make sure you don't have a bdb installed in
 /usr/local

 If you don't, it would be worth trying to build with trace mode on to see
 if that makes a difference.
