llvm-3.4…5.0 on my system. So what is necessary and what could be
uninstalled? Would it be right to set 5.0 requested and let the rest go?

You can `sudo port uninstall leaves` to uninstall ports that you did not
request and that are not needed. But MacPorts will reinstall them later if
they are needed when you ask to install something else later.'

Marking clang-5.0 (or any other port) as requested will have no effect on
whether MacPorts needs to use that port to build another port, though it
will remove it from the list of leaves.
