 BTW, for those reading this, I finally understood the difference in the
 transcript. (ocamlc.opt is a bytecode compiler, not a native compiler.
 ocamlopt.opt is the native compiler. It was dying the first time it
 invoked the native compiler.) So the failure is not so mysterious after
 all.
