 I installed Octave 4.2 on my Mac running OS 10.12.3. It freezes regularly
 and just shows the Mac beach ball. This is making it unusable. Is there a
 fix? Also, the Octave 4.2 icon only has 3 squares.

 This is what I have installed specifically:

 Last login: Wed Feb  8 10:48:20 on ttys001
 DIPANKARs-MBP:~ Dipu$ port installed octave
 The following ports are currently installed:
   octave
 @4.2.0_2+accelerate+app+docs+fltk+gfortran+graphicsmagick+qt4+sound
 (active)
