 I don't know why the first three logs show gcc-4.0 being used. The first
 two logs are incomplete and we therefore can't draw any conclusions from
 them.

 Correct bootstrapping procedure for Tiger is to install Xcode and
 MacPorts, install apple-gcc42 with the bootstrap variant, then reinstall
 apple-gcc42 without the bootstrap variant. Users don't know they're
 supposed to do that; I don't know if we've documented it properly.
