 For a similar error, I was successful in using "trace mode" as referenced
 in the [wiki:FAQ#usrlocal FAQ]:

 `sudo port -t install --unrequested ImageMagick`

 Previously I would tempararily move /usr/local via

 `sudo mv /usr/local/lib /usr/local/lib-temp`

 but the `-t` option is simpler.
