 The attached patch updates the port and makes several other fixes.

 After this is committed, the port's whitespace should be fixed to conform
 to the modeline.

 In converting `adduser` and `addgroup` to `add_users`, I have retained the
 setting of `home=${prefix}/sbin`, though I don't see why that's a good
 value for a home directory.
