 I don't think that the problem is solved by having the additional ports.
 My thinking is that one (or more) of the ports is being installed with the
 wrong variant.  I did try to remove and reinstall wine-devel from source,
 and that didn't solve the problem.  So, I think that the solution might be
 that one of the ports that I already have installed must be installed
 +universal.  But, I don't know which one that might be.  If I'm correct,
 what solved it for you was not rebuilding wine-devel from source.  But,
 instead the fact that you uninstalled everything and then when you
 reinstalled, some other port was installed +universal that had not been.
 If so, just re-installing the correct, "mystery port", with the right
 variant should solve this problem.
 Is there any way to figure out which ports "should" be +universal, as
 required by wine-devel, versus which ones are actually installed that way?
