 Thank you both. After adding "PortGroup cxx11 1.1" to
 "/opt/local/var/macports/sources/rsync.macports.org/macports/release/tarballs/ports/tex
 /texlive-bin/Portfile" MacPorts clang-4.0 rather that Xcode llvm-gcc-4.2
 is used during configure

 May I ask the significance of "PortGroup cxx11 1.1", please? Also, why
 sudden issue with older versions of OS X?
