 Thanks for filing the issue.

 Now after updating I see the same problem with Python 2.7, but also Python
 3.

 Unfortunately I don't know what the cause is for this change / issue, or
 how to fix it.

 These "data files" should be installed with "read" allowed for all users,
 but for some reason are installed as "-rw-r-----".

 I've put some notes and comment and asked for help here:
 https://github.com/astropy/astropy/issues/5912

 If someone in the Macports team knows what's going on, please comment!

 If I {{{python setup.py install}}} or {{{pip install}}} this version of
 the package, I don't see this issue (i.e. also "data files" can be read by
 all).

 So somehow this issue only shows up when installing via Macports. Maybe
 it's the result of Macports executing install commands in a special way?

 Has there been a similar issue for any other Python package?
