Comment:

 I'm unable to reproduce the problem and the port built ok on the 10.6
 buildbot as well.

 Maybe a different volume has something to do with it, but I don't know why
 that would be the case.
 Maybe you can try to clean the build and then run
 {{{
 sudo port -v install MoarVM configure.compiler=macports-clang-3.4
 }}}
 just in case that one works better.
