 /opt/local/lib/cmake/libxml2/libxml2-config.cmake has

 {{{
 #   LIBXML2_LIBRARIES         - xml2 libraries to link against.
 }}}

 So there's a variable name mismatch. In fact when I changed
 LIBXML2_LIBRARIES to LIBXML2_LIBRARY, strigi builds fine.

 That doesn't strike me as the correct fix, but it certainly identifies the
 problem.
