 i didn't think it worth submitting a patch to update the openblas-devel
 portfile to support gnu-gcc8

 was:
 set GCC_VERSIONS_NO_DOT {45 46 47 48 49 5 6 7}

 needs to be:
 set GCC_VERSIONS_NO_DOT {45 46 47 48 49 5 6 7 8}

 my final build
 Activating OpenBLAS-devel @20170919_0+clang+gcc8+lapack
