 I have managed to get mysql-5.6.9 to build and run on an old G4 PowerMac
 using macports-gcc-7 and the openssl variant. The build required patching:
 * Portfile
 * mysql-common/client_authentication.cc

 Diffs are attached to this ticket.

 Why build the openssl variant?

 Without it, the PHP and Python connectors to do work. The mySQL Password()
 function produces a hash that does not match what is produced by the PHP
 and Python connectors.
