New description:

 gfortran-mp-7 is failing simple tests.

 Trying to compile simple testfile conftest.f (as created by mpich during
 configure):
 {{{
         program main

         end
 }}}

 fails when called with {{{/opt/local/bin/gfortran-mp-7 -o conftest
 conftest.f}}} for 7.3.0 revision 2, but works with 7.3.0 revision 1. (As
 tested by deactivating / activating using the pre-compiled packages from
 macports.)

 I don't know if this is something that changed outside of gcc7 in the
 interim that broke the new builds, but the end result appears broken.
