 All looks fine there except maybe the PATH ... Out of curiosity, what's in
 `/usr/local/bin`?

 Also, what does the following return (when issued from the "build"
 directory you just created):
 {{{
 /opt/local/bin/gcc-mp-7 -v -o main.c.o -c ../main.c
 }}}
