 I'm back to my machine farm again. It last had a MacPorts update in early
 July.

 On my 10.4.11 PPC machine, I just built gcc7 through to completion, with
 no issues.

 I'll run a MacPorts update now, and then see what happens. Might take a
 day or two (as you know).
