 looks like it builds on 10.5 to 10.11
 <http://packages.macports.org/libgcc45/?C=N;O=A> but not newer systems.

 This is a known issue with gcc version less than 5 -- see [ticket:56511].
 It is probably fixable, but nobody has bothered to fix it because so far
 it hasn't been that needed.

 Can you use gcc5+ instead? Fixing this is probably a bit of a PITA.
