Comment:

 At this point in time, we have decided not to try to fix gcc49 for newer
 systems as there are better options (gcc5 + ). gcc49 can be made to build
 on newer systems, but the test suite shows an uncomfortable number of test
 failures that we don't plan to address and upstream has closed development
 on gcc49.
