 In response about the name of the port. I still believe it should simply
 be called "eric" and track the latest version. We only ever put the
 version number in a port name when we intend to keep multiple versions
 around for compatibility reasons - e.g. gcc6, gcc7, etc. I see no need to
 do that here. If/when it moves to version 7, we would have to add/change
 the port name and that only makes things more difficult for users when
 updating. Unless I'm missing something?
