Comment (by dershow):

 I tried deactivating  @3.0.1_2 and instead activating my old @3.0.0_1 and
 now Qgis won't open at all.  I get an error when I try to open it, "Qgis3
 cannot be opened because of a problem.  Check with the developers to make
 sure that Qgis3 works with this version of macOS".
 I assume that there is some library issue with the upgraded version and
 proj4 versus proj and gdal etc.
