 I can workaround this problem but then configuration fails with:

 {{{
 checking for XLALSimDetectorStrainREAL8TimeSeries in -llalsimulation... no
 configure: error: could not find the LALSimulation library
 }}}

 even though LALSimulation is present. This is proving to be quite
 annoying. Still looking.
