 since the os upgrade I've installed gmt4, gmt5 and dos2unix with macports.
 gmt4 and gmt5 both complain about an hdf5 library-header file mismatch
 (see "Warning! ***HDF5 library version mismatched error***" in this file
 and ticket #56445: hdf5 - Headers are 1.10.1, library is 1.10.2), and gmt
 4 is partially working, while gmt5 is not completing.
