 I see that the version of mmtk we're using is 7 years old and that a
 version from this year exists. But I do also see the note that it doesn't
 with with numpy 1.9 or higher. If that's true, we could either try to help
 the developers do what they haven't had time to do: fix compatibility with
 numpy 1.9 and later. Or if we don't have time for that, we could delete
 the port.
