 If it's not available on any package server it'll never be downloaded to
 `../incoming/verified`.

 Do you have any idea why your installation of MacPorts is not trying to
 build it? Might you have modified `macports.conf` to disable port
 building, ie do you have the following line in your macports.conf?
 {{{
 buildfromsource         always
 }}}

 if so, it should say
 {{{
 buildfromsource         ifneeded
 }}}
