 This seems to be a problem with Tk.\\
 the Tcl script
 {{{
 package require Tk
 grid [ttk::button .b -text "Hello World"]
 }}}
 fails as well when tk is installed with the {{{+quartz}}} variant.\\
 Tcl/Tk's [https://core.tcl.tk bug reporting system] seems to be down.\\
 When the system comes back up, I will attempt to do more research.
