Comment:

 Are you requesting the `+universal` variant? You should not do that on
 Mojave, as it can no longer build 32-bit binaries.

 Did you already migrate your `/opt/local/etc/macports/macports.conf`
 (compare to `macports.conf.default` right next to it)? I would recommend
 to remove `i386` from the `universal_archs` option.

 The error is unrelated to bash-completion, just one of the dependencies
 threw an error. Reassigning to gperf.
