#57470: p5.26-locale-gettext configure fails, can't find gettext. OS X 10.5.8,

 Like in the summary; when I try to install curl, it fails at the p5.26
 -locale-gettext port, during its configuration stage. The output says that
 gettext isn't found, however I have gettext installed. My MacPorts config
 file has the buildarch set to ppc64 and the variants conf has -universal.
