Comment:

 A gimp developer has helped identify this as a bug in exiv2 0.27. It is
 reported to the developers of exiv2
 [https://github.com/Exiv2/exiv2/issues/644 here] and the proposed patch is
 [https://gitlab.gnome.org/samm-git/gtk-osx/blob/fork-
 test/patches/exiv2-symbols.patch here]. I have not tested the patch.
