Comment (by ryandesign):

 In the case of `hub`, their fix was to stop using `user.Current()`.
 Another avenue of exploration would be to figure out why `user.Current()`
 doesn't work in our go installation, and if possible fix it so that it
 does work; that could potentially help other projects, not just
 prometheus.
