 OK thanks for trying & for the info. Yes, same issue still.

 Looks like you're running 10.13 ... let me try using that OS version & see
 if I can replicate the issue.

 The easy solution for you is:
 {{{
 sudo port clean poppler
 sudo port -f deactivate poppler
 sudo port install poppler
 }}}
 should allow you to move forward.
