 Many thanks for your explanation!
 Are you aware of any way I can fix this problem?

 I am new to MacPorts and was very happy with it to install many packages
 but now it breaks almost every install attempt with the same error. :(

 Also I already have clang-8.0 installed!
 Is it possible to have `port` use it instead of the obsolete dependency?
 (which seems pointless)

 Will appreciate any help!
