 Normally /tmp is a symlink to /private/tmp, is that the case for you or
 are those the permissions on /tmp itself? What about /var/tmp (I'm not
 sure which one bash uses)? TMPDIR is actually probably not relevant since
 MacPorts sets it to something inside $workpath.
