 Oh, and whatever is the root cause of the issue mouse saw, it might
 already have been fixed in llvm/clang-8.0.

 I just have not had the time to dig on building gcc with different clang
 versions to see where the break point is, or if the issue is even
 reproducible -- it takes so damn long to build gcc...
