 late last year we found a bug in ghostscript 9.26 that affects our ability
 to render large images.  This was fixed by the ghostscript developers on
 Jan. 31., 2019; see https://bugs.ghostscript.com/show_bug.cgi?id=700306.
 We really would like to see 9.27 in macports - it has been almost 4
 months.
