 ImageMagick-7 installs a similar set of pkg-config files, albeit with
 6.Q16 -> 7.Q16 for the files  with the version / quantum-level extensions.

 I don't see a sane way around the pkg-config problem. IMHO "we" should
 just leave things as they are for now.

 If someone really wants to use ImageMagick-7,  they can deactivate
 ImageMagick-6 and build / install ImageMagick-7.

 FWIW... The wizards at ImageMagick have been thinking about this problem
 for a while now. See:
